BOL Japanese Salad Jar Review

This week’s health food product review and here we have the Japanese Salad Jar from BOL.

Firstly I would like to start the blog post by saying thanks to the guys at BOL for generously sending some free vouchers that I managed to exchange in return for some delicious plant-based meals by BOL.

BOL produce a range of plant-based foods from salad jars to super soups and their tasty veg pots.

BOL describe their Japanese Salad Jar as: Nothing quite beats the perfect balance of soy, white miso and tangy ginger dressing in our Japanese inspired salad. Pour the delicious dressing over our plant-powered jar of black rice, raw rainbow slaw, tenderstem broccoli and protein-rich edamame beans for a lively lunchtime lift.

The Japanese Salad Jar is 100% vegan, high in protein, provides two of your five a day and is less than 350 calories.

Review

The Japanese salad jar by BOL made for a very tasty, filling and healthy plant-based meal.

Plant-based diet patterns are becoming increasingly popular and the research indicates that plant-based diets can significantly lower the risk of developing many serious health problems from diabetes to cardiovascular disease.

The Japanese salad jar is based around many great health promoting plant-foods including beans, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage, black rice which is a great low-GI carbohydrate source, carrots and much more.

We recently done an article on the health benefits of legumes such as beans.  Legumes are one of the best dietary predictors of longevity and survival in older people of different ethnicities. [1]

The taste was very delicious for a plant-based meal and the white miso, soy and ginger dressing synergized with the flavours of the vegetables well.

The Japanese salad jar is completely plant-based, so it is suitable for vegans.  Makes for a great healthy clean lunch or is filling enough to suffice for a light dinner.

I would definitely recommend any of our readers who are interested in plant-based nutrition to give BOL’s meals a try.  Here’s hoping they keep adding more healthy plant-based products to their range.
